Objective: To study the correlation between ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) infection and male infertility. Methods: The semen specimens of 458 male infertility patients were cultured for the detection of UU and the seminal analyses were compared . Results: Associated with weakening of sperm activity, declining of quantity of sperm, rising of sperm death rate and increasing of sperm adhesiveness, the UU positive rate increased gradually. The UU positive rate of the semen specimens with anti-sperm antibody was higher than those without anti-sperm antibody. Conclusion: The results showed that UU infection can affect the quality of semen and may be an important cause of male infertility. Detection of UU is of certain clinical significance for the treatment of male infertility.
