Sixteen compounds were isolated and purified from ethyl acetate fraction of the 70% acetone extract of the rhizomes of Isodon adenantha by silica gel and RP-18 column chromatography,and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data and physicochemical properties as weisiensin A(1),2α-hydroxyloleanolic acid(2),2α,23-dihydroxyoleanolic acid(3),2β,3β-bis-O-isopropylidene-olean-12-en-28-acid(4),3-O-acetylursolic acid(5),1-monopalmitin(6),1-monoolein(7),1-monolinolein(8),glycerol 1,2-dilinoleate(9),α-linolenic acid methylester(10),palmitic acid(11),octadecanoic acid(12),oleic acid(13),7α-hydroxystigmasterol(14),7β-hydroxysitosterol(15),and β-sitosterol(16).This is the first report on the compounds 4,6-10 and 13-15 from the Isodon plants,while compounds 2,3,5,11 and 12 were obtained from I.adenantha for the first time as well.
