Coupled hydrogenation and selective ring-opening of tetralin was investigated over Pt/Y and Pt/USY catalysts at hydrogen pressures(4.0 MPa).The results indicated that hydrogenation of tetralin could be achieved over both Pt/Y and Pt/USY,and the acid strength of the supports played an important role in the ring-opening reactions.Compared to USY,Y was a better support for ring-opening,due to its relatively weak acid strength. In conclusion, a support with mild acid strength would favor the ring opening of tetralin.
