The effect of pH value,Absorbing time,temperature,initial concentration of dyestuff and ionic strength on the removal of acid violet red,methyl orange,xylenol orange and crystal violet by chitosan is investigated.Results show that the adsorption capacity of the chitosan increases with the reduction of pH value and with the increment of initial concentration of dyestuff,the effect of temperature on the adsorption is weaker and the adsorption reaches equilibrium in 60 minutes.Besides,chitosan enjoys a higher adsorption capacity for azo dyestuff and acid dyestuff with sulfo-group than for alkaline dyestuff.
