Defeating meningitis by 2030: the WHO roadmap

Meningitis, a severe infectious disease with a high case fatality rate, is still a major global health problem, despite widespread use of conjugate vaccines. Worldwide in 2017, there were an estimated 5 045 400 new cases of meningitis (95% uncertainty intervals 4 435 100–5 877 800) and 288 000 deaths (254 300–333 200).
