Effect of lithium source and production process on the performance of LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)O_2

Ni,Co and Al ternary cathode material LiNi0. 8Co0. 15Al0. 05O2was prepared by method of high temperature solid state reaction. Physical property,morphology and electrochemical performance of the product prepared by lithium hydroxide( LiOH) and lithium nitrate(LiNO3) as lithium source were investigated. Finely controlling synthetic process could prepare LiNi0. 8Co0. 15Al0. 05O2with low residual alkali content and low pH value of suspension. When discharged in 3. 0 ~ 4. 3 V,the initial 1 C specific discharge capacity of product synthesized by LiNO3as lithium source and in the condition of 800 ℃,10 h was 172. 7 mAh /g,the capacity retention of 100 cycles was 92. 1%.
