Increasing evidence suggests that working memory and perceptual processes are dynamically interrelated due to modulating activity in overlapping brain networks. However, the relationship between working memory on perceptual function and the direct influence of perceptual learning on fluid intelligence remains unclear. To investigate these issues, initially the paper summarizes the internal mechanism of working memory and visual perceptual learning. And then by studying some related models, a new model, called perceptual-working memory model is proposed and, supported by data obtained in the two experiments, is finally established. Our results show that the visual perception of study had no notable effects in improving fluid intelligence (t=-2.01, p=0.075>0.05), but working memory training could improve the perceptual learning effect in the training spatial frequencies18 (t=2.329, p=0.03<0.05).
