Progress in the Self-healing Mechanisms of Polymeric Materials

The varying self-healing mechanisms are summarized: the 1st generation polymer composite based on microcapsules or liquid core fibers,the 2nd generation polymer composite based on biomimetic vascular network,the molecular self-healing based on reversible covalent bond formation,the self-healing based on reversible non-covalent bond formation,and the self-healing together with self-sensing.The associated reactions,the characteristics and hea-ling coefficiency are discussed.Lastly,the research trends and hot spots are prospected.
