Researching in characters and functions of trehalose and trehalase in insects

Trehalose,the blood glucose of insects,plays important roles in the insect activities such as the energy metabolism,insect diapause and stress- resistances. Trehalase is a specificity enzyme which hydrolyses trehalose into two glucose molecules. Expression profile and enzyme activity of trehalase are related to kinds of physiological processes of insects. In order to further understand the trehalose and trehalase of insects,we reviewed the characteristics of trehalose and trehalase,metabolic pathways and their roles in insect,at the same time,the prospect- of trehalose and trehalase in pollinators was provided in this paper.
