Recent developments in the utilization of salinity power. [Pressure Retarded Osmosis, reverse electrodialysis]

In the last few years at least two membrane processes potentially feasible for salinity power have been suggested. Two are discussed: Pressure Retarded Osmosis and reverse electrodialysis. Also discussed are the possible application of the reverse electrodialysis process for salinity power utilization and the employment of the process as a general tool to improve the use of other energy devices. 2 refs.
