The laser material processing is now very popular in the modern industry, and the market of the laser machine for material processing exceeded 80 billion yen in 1988 with 35% increase in the recent 10 years in Japan. All of lasers used for those machines in the industry are CO2 or YAG lasers, because these two lasers are stable, reliable, and of good characteristics with reasonable costs. However, many people consider those two lasers are not so good enough and the future laser for processing should be much better in many aspects. The question is whether or not the future laser is still CO2 and YAG?
