Cross-platform Mobile Development Approaches: A Systematic Review

Nowadays, there are at least four important mobile platforms (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone). The main challenge for mobile application developers is to provide their solution across all these platforms. Cross-platform development approaches emerged to address this challenge by allowing developers to implement their applications in one step for a range of platforms, avoiding repetition and increasing productivity. We will present a systematic review where we define and explain the different approaches used in cross-platform development in order to achieve a comparison between these approaches allowing us to identify the strong points, and weaknesses of each approach.
