The preparation of thiourea modified glutaraldehyde-crosslinked chitosan resin activated with cyanuric chloride, and its adsorptivity to bovine serum albumin(BSA) was studied. The successful modification of thiourea to chitosan chains was proved with infrared spectra and element analysis. The maximum adsorption capacity of thiourea modified chitosan resin to bovine serum albumin was 596 mg·g-1(dry resin). The adsorption was correlated with Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equation, respectively. The BSA adsorbed on the column(Φ=1.0 cm×10 cm) of thiourea modified chitosan resin can be eluted with 50 mL of 1.0 mol·L-1 NaCl and 0.2 mol·L-1(NH4)2SO4 solution with the recovery of 98.2% and 96.4%,respectively.The thiourea modified crosslinked chitosan resin can be applied to the separation and purification of proteins.
