【Objective】 To investigate the effect and significance of curcumin on cognitive impairment of AD model rats after Aβ1-42 injected into hippocampus.【Methods】 The SD rats were divided into three groups: sham group,AD model group and curcumin administrated group.Aβ1-42 was micro-injected into the right hippocampus of rats.24 h after the injection,Curcumin dissolved with DMSO [300 mg/(kg·d)] was administrated by intraperitoneal injection to the AD model group for 5 d.One month later,Morris water maze(MWM) was used to study the learning and memory ability in each group every day.【Result】 MWM test showed that the rats in AD model group had longer escape latencies compared with those in control group(P =0.013),and the rats in curcumin group had shorter escape latencies compared with those in model group(P =0.021).【Conclusion】 Curcumin can partly improve the spatial learning and memory dysfunction of AD model rats.
