progress in preparation of glyoxylic acid by ozonization

Because of the rapid development of these products from glyoxylic acid, the need for glyoxylic acid is increasing, and the improvement of the processes for it becomes more important. The ozonization-reduction process is one of the most efficient ways. In this paper, the current research and production situation of glyoxylic acid are summarized, the latest advances in the progress in glyoxylic acid synthesis from maleic acid and corresponding esters by ozonization is reviewed. The advantages and main problems of the ozonization-reduction process are discussed in detail, and the foreground of the process is prospected.
