In this paper the sediments were collected in different sites from ponds. The effects of different water temperature and organic materials on the sediment oxygen demand(SOD) in different prawn ponds(prawn monoculture pond, prawn and clam polyculture pond) were studied. The results showed that under two different aquaculture patterns SOD increased as the experimental temperature increased, showing the power law model, with correlation coefficients 0.979 9 and 0.990 5,respectively.SOD was significantly correlated with organic matter content(P0.05).The discrepancy of SOD in prawn and clams mixed ponds and prawn single ponds was highly significant(P0.01).Under the same aquaculture mode,SOD in early days was less than that in late.In the same time,SOD in prawn monoculture pond was larger than that of prawn and clams polyculture pond.
