Study of E-51 epoxy resin modified bisphenol A cyanate ester resins

The reactivity,reaction mechanism and curing process of E-51 epoxy resin modified bisphenol A cyanate ester resins(BADCy) were studied by DSC and FTIR.The thermal properties of E-51 modified BADCy cured products were investigated by TGA.The water absorption and mechanical properties of cured products were also tested.The results showed that the reactivity of the modified systems was decreased and the curing temperature was decreased gradually with the increasing of E-51 amounts.The aromatic heterocyclic structures such as oxazolidinone was formed in the epoxy modified BADCy and the crosslinking density of the triazine ring of cyanate ester resin system was decreased.Therefore,the toughness of the system was increased.The initial thermal decomposition temperature of modified materials was more than 380 ℃and the water absorption was less than 2%.
