Nursing Information Technology (IT) Knowledge, Skills and Preparation of Student Nurses, Nurse Faculty and Clinicians: A National Survey of Baccalaureate and Higher Nursing Programs in the United States
As healthcare delivery increasingly focuses on the use of timely information to drive decision-making, there is an increased need for information technology integration into the basic nursing education curriculum of all future nurse clinicians and educators. This paper reports the findings from an online survey of deans/directors of 266 baccalaureate and higher nursing education programs in the U.S. This study's outcomes have major implications for nurse educators and program administrators who are responsible for faculty development planning and for nursing education curricula that prepare nurses for professional practice.
