Scintillation crystals are important materials of nuclear radiation detector,which has some attractive scintillation properties,such as large density,high light output,good uniformity and fast decay. They are widely used in medical and health care,security,high energy physics,oil exploration and other fields. They frequently show some property differences for the same scintillation crystal. People are usually attributed these to the differences of crystal growth process and are easy to ignore the crystal anisotropy effects on crystal properties. With the development of non- cubic phase crystals,such as PbWO4,Lu2Si2O7: Ce,LaBr3: Ce and LaCl3: Ce crystal,people are paying more and more attention to the anisotropy effects of scintillation crystals.The study of the anisotropy effects of scintillation crystals are reviewed in this paper. And the impact of the anisotropy effects on crystal applications is analyzed.
