Clinic analysis of 69 cases in young adults of cerebral infarction

Objective: To investigate the etiology and clinical characteristics in young adults with cerebral infarction. Methods: The clinical material of 69 cases in young adults with cerebral infarction examined by CT or MRI was analyzed retrospectively. Results: The causes of the diseases were varied. Hypertension and atherosclerosis were the most often causes of the young adults with cerebral infarction, and abnormality of serum lipids and heart diseases came next. Some were caused by multi-factors. 26% of them could not be found the causes. Their progosis was better. The death was related with the large area of infarction. Conclusion: The causes of the diseases were complex. The main and essential causes of young with adults cerebral infarction were hypertension and atherosclerosis. Lipid disorders and heart diseases were the second causes. The cases with unknown cause was less than that of reported before, which was related with advanced examination methods. It is key of reducing incidence of young adults with cerebral infarction to reduce or eliminate the causes and risk factors of the diseases.
