Bioenergy and bio-products derived from bio-waste have now emerged as sustainable solutions for waste management and renewable energy generation.Addressing the increase in global energy demand, the need for mitigating climate change, and reducing reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels, have led to a shift toward renewable and eco-friendly alternatives.A major fraction of solid waste, including municipal solid waste, agricultural residues, forestry residues, food waste, and industrial waste, offers plentiful and renewable resources for the production of bioenergy and other valuable bio-products.Waste to bioenergy and bioproducts technologies enhance waste valorization and the circular economy of waste as a resource.This paper reviews the current trends and developments in the field of bioenergy and bio-products derived from bio-waste, highlighting the types of waste biomass commonly used, conversion technologies employed, and the prospects and challenges associated with this approach.
