Retarding the shuttling of soluble polysulfide is a key issue for enhancing the performance of a lithium-sulfur battery. Modification of the battery separator with an active component that could facilitate the conversion of soluble polysulfide effectively suppress the shuttling effect by timely consumption of soluble polysulfide. Herein, a novel Pt decorated polypropylene separator is developed and its excellent performance in lithium sulfur battery is demonstrated. The excellent performance of the Pt decorated PP separator is resulted from its enhanced electrolyte affinity as well as its ability to catalyze polysulfide conversion.
