Background: Patients with cardiac sarcoidosis are at high risk of sudden cardiac death from ventricular arrhythmias. Because cardiac involvement can be asymptomatic, ventricular tachycardia or sudden cardiac death may be the first presentation of cardiac sarcoidosis. Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) have been received for primary and secondary prevention of sudden death in patients with cardiac sarcoidosis. There are few reports about the clinical prognosis in cardiac sarcoidosis patients with ICD. Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the difference between prognosis of cardiac sarcoidosis patients with ICD for primary and secondary prevention for sudden cardiac death. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the database of our ICD clinic. Of consecutive 362 ICD patients, 26 cardiac sarcoidosis patients (7.2%) received steroid therapies. We examined their background, left ventricular ejection fraction before and after steroid therapies, occurrence frequency of appropriate ICD therapies, incidence of hospitalization and death. Results: The patient characteristics and the incidence of major events were shown in the table. Conclusions: There were no significantly difference between prognosis of cardiac sarcoidosis patients with ICD for primary and secondary prevention. Abstract P1478 Figure.
