摘要
Peri-implantitis is a common complication following oral implantation that seriously jeopardizes long-term implant stability and prosthetic outcomes. Conventional therapeutic modalities, including non-surgical and surgical interventions, exhibit inherent limitations. Hydrogel-based drug delivery systems (hDDSs), as an emerging platform, are increasingly recognized for their therapeutic potential of favorable biocompatibility, sustained drug-release kinetics, and advantage of local administration in basic studies of peri-implantitis, thus offering broad translational prospects. This review outlines the hDDSs currently employed in peri-implantitis research and summarizes the latest advances. Moreover, we analyze and compare the strengths and limitations of various hydrogel drug-loading strategies, discuss the challenges hindering clinical translation, aiming to provide guidance and inspiration for future clinical management and research of peri-implantitis.
