In Reply: Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization for Chronic Subdural Hematoma: A Series of 60 Cases

To the Editor: We thank the Letter's authors for their inquiry.1 We have recently read the referenced articles regarding the use of atorvastatin as a potential nonoperative treatment strategy for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). In the early phases of our trial,2 conservative management of patients did not include the use of a statin, as we were not yet aware of the early data. It is important to note that some of the data regarding statin use does not discuss the symptomatic nature or radiographic details of the treated subdural hematomas. We agree that a statin can be considered in the conservative management of asymptomatic CSDH, in addition to steroids, prior to consideration of intervention whether it be middle meningeal artery embolization or surgical evacuation.
