Efficient hydrogenation of cyclohexyl acetate to cyclohexanol with Cu-Zr catalysts

A Cu 3 Zr 7 -SG catalyst prepared by the sol–gel method was active and selective for the hydrogenation of acetic acid–derived cyclohexyl acetate to yield cyclohexanol (an important chemical to produce ε-caprolactam) with co-production of ethanol.
