A superhydrophobic surface coating was successfully prepared on carbon steel by addition of particles with Nanometer and micrometer sizes into epoxy phenolic resin. The microstructure and wetting property of the coating were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact–angle measurement system. The experimental results showed that as–prepared surface coating has branchlike rough surface structures similar to the lotus leaf and water–drop and the coating surface's angle of contact surpasses 150°. This indicates that as–prepared surface coating has a excellent hydrophobicity.
