Visual evoked potential(VEP) is an evoked response recorded from the visual cortex.It is sometimes known as visual evoked cortical potential(VECP),evoked by a changing visual stimulus like flash or pattem when retina was stimulated.VEP can objectively reflect the function of visual system and brain system and is specially suitable for visual assessment of children since it is seldom influenced by acknowledge or coorperation.The ationale,parameter and clinical application of VEP in visual assesment was reviewed in this article.
