Application of Trehalose in Lyophilization of Blood Cells

Trehalose is regarded to be a preferred protectant for lyophilization of blood cells.Trehalose,as a nonreducing disaccharide,plays a role in protection of the cytoactivity when the cells is freezing,drying or lyopilization,and shows broad application prospect on lyophilization of blood cells.This paper reviewed the damaged effect of lyophilization on blood cells,the mechanism of trehalose protection and the experimental studies on trehalose.
