Hydroxyapatite (HAP) coating is considered to be the best type of biomedical material for replacing hard tissues of human body so far. Electrophoretic deposition is a new technique of preparing coatings, which can solve various disadvantages existed in the traditional technology for preparing HAP bioceramic coatings. This paper provides a comprehensive information on the survey of the electrophoretic deposition of hydroxyapatite bioceramic coating at home and abroad. The process flow and process parameters of the electrophoretic deposition are given . Various factors affecting the hydroxyapatite electrophoretic deposition coating are discussed in detail. Envisagement and prospects in the field are put forward eventually.
