New progress of floating drug delivery systems hollow microspheres

Objective To introduce the new progress of floating drug delivery systems hollow microspheres.Methods The mechanism of gastric emptying process,the preparation and characterization of the hollow microspheres for the oral route of administration of the drugs were introduced on the basis of related references.Results Hollow microspheres can increase gastric residence time (GRT) and bioaviability of the oral drugs.Conclusion As a new dosage form of floating drug delivery systems,hollow microspheres have a very good prospect in pharmaceutics.
