Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expressions of VEGF-C, LN-R and nm23 and cervical lymph nodes metastasis in human laryngeal carcinoma. Methods: The expressions of VEGF-C, LN-R and nm23 in 60 patients with laryngeal carcinoma and 9 patients with vocal polyps were examined by immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidase(SP) method. Results: The expressions of VEGF-C and LN-R were significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis than those without lymph node metastasis (P0.05). The expression of nm23 in patients without lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that with lymphnode metastasis(P0.05) .Conclusion: Laryngeal carcinoma with positive VEGF-C,LN-R and negative nm23 expression is prone to occur cervical lymph node metastasis. nm23, VEGF-C and LN-R genes may play roles in the suppression of lymph node metastasis or progression in laryngeal carcinoma. And they may be good predictors of metastasis and prognostic for laryngeal carcinoma.
