Objective To retrospective study the clinical outcomes of volar T-shaped plate fixation for unstable fractures of distal radius. Methods Internal fixation and early mobilization of the distal radius using a volar T-shaped with bone grafting was investigated in a series of 25 fractures. Results All patients were followed up range from 6 to 18 months.Evaluated by X-ray,all the patients were clinical healed.Delayed union or non-union was not observed. The final clinical functions were evaluated with the Gartland and Werley functional scoring system, eighteen patients was graded as excellent, five as good and two as fair. Conclusions For unstable distal radius fractures, volar T-shaped plate fixation combined with bone grafting is reliable and effective in preventing loss of reduction and avoiding complications.
