Clinical observation of correlation between rhuEPO and quality of life and the efficacy of chemotherapy in anemic cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

Objective To observe correlatoin between rHuEPO and quality of life and the efficacy of chemotherapy in anemic cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.Methods The 88 patients were divided into two groups,chemotherapy combined with rHuEPO group 45 cases (rHuEPO 10000 units 3 times per week for 4 weeks)and single chemotherapy group 43 cases.Results The cases with increase in Hb by more than 20 g/L accounted for 44.4%(20/45)in chemotherapy combined with rHuEPO group and 4.7%(2/43)in single chemotherapy group,P=0.000098.The cases with increase in KPS more than 20 accounted for 40.0%(18/45)in chemotherapy combined with rHuEPO group and 18.6%(8/43)in single chemotherapy group,P=0.0279.PF,RP,VT,MH,BP of SF-36 were increased signifcantly in chemotherapy combined with rHuEPO group(P0.05).The 45 cases of chemotherapy combined with rHuEPO group were divided into increase in by Hb more than 20 g/L group and increase in by Hb less than 20 g/L group.PF,RP,VT,MH of SF-36 were increased more significantly in increase in by Hb more than 20 g/L group.The response rates(RR) of chemotherapy in the two groups were 48.5%(16/33)and 46.7%(14/30)respectively.Conclusions rHuEPO can improve the level of hemoglobin significantly in anemic cancer patients and improve the quality of life.There is no correlatoin between rHuEPO and chemotherapy.
