Research on Seismic Vibration Control of Hefei TV Tower with TMD

The seismic response of Hefei TV Tower under the El-Centro、Taft and simulated earthquake wave of Hefei excitations are performed using the Newmarkβ method.Finally,the water tank of 60 tones on the tower which is used for daily water supply and fire protection of the tower is designed as a tuned mass damper. After extensive parametric studies in time-history analysis,the optimal design parameters of Tuned Mass Damper are determined.The parameter analysis of TMD shows that the seismic responses of the tower are decreased greatly with the optimal parameters of TMD.
