摘要
Wind and photovoltaic (PV) power plants are being installed more and more in Japan. Electric power from renewable energy is always fluctuating owing to its time-varying nature. This affects power quality in areas where the interconnection of renewable energy to the power grid is weak. Static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs) are required to stabilize voltage fluctuations in renewable energy power plants. This paper describes the fabrication and performance of a STATCOM system for renewable energy. The system was constructed by control panels, transformers, and several inverters. This system has already been installed and is in operation.
