The phase behavior of liquid crystal emulsion containing alkyl polysorbate,sorbitan ester,stearyl alcohol,oil and water was studied by the observation under polarizing microscope and the measurement of electrical conductivity.Results showed that the system forms an O/W globular lamellar liquid crystal LO1 at low levels of surfactant and oil,which transformed into a mixture of coexisting globular LO1(2)and planar lamellar Lβ phases,and then to a W/O globular LO2 lamellar phase with increasing the concentration of alcohol and oil.Finally,system with alkyl polysorbate/sorbitan ester(4∶1)forms stable O/W and W/O globular lamellar liquid crystal emulsions.
