This thesis provides a scholarly and theoretical analysis of the historical development of foreign language teaching methods and their role in shaping speaking skills. In particular, it examines the main principles of such approaches as the Grammar-Translation Method, the Direct Method, the Audio-Lingual Method, the Natural Approach, Total Physical Response (TPR), Suggestopedia, Community Language Learning, Communicative Language Teaching, Task-Based Language Teaching, Content-Based Instruction, CLIL, and blended learning. The findings of the study indicate that among modern methods, communicative and task-based approaches are especially effective in developing learners’ ability to speak fluently, express ideas logically, and use language units effectively in real communicative situations.
