Novel photosensitive fluorinated polysiloxane (MA-PNFMS) overhanging with nonafluorohexyl and capped with methacrylate groups were synthesized. The UV-curable coatings were prepared using sulfhydryl functionalized fluorosilicone resin (SFSR) as an additive. The surface chemical composition and morphology, optical properties, adhesion, contact angles and surface energy, liquid repellency, and aging resistance were studied. Results show that the surface energy is as low as 19.0 mN/m, showing excellent liquid repellency. Liquids of varying surface tensions can slide down the inclined surface under gravity without any residue. The adhesion of the coating can reach 4B grade, the transmittance can reach 100%, and the haze is less than 0.6%. Furthermore, the coating also demonstrates excellent aging resistance, and its optical transparency and liquid repellency are maintained after UV and thermal aging. This study shows that MA-PNFMS could be applied as promising protective coatings.
