摘要
Fuel cell technology provides a sustainable solution to achieving a significantly reduced carbon footprint, with proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) leading the way in the commercial market. However, PEMFCs' relatively high cost has limited their widespread use. Fortunately, anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) offer a promising alternative to PEMFCs, delivering comparable performance at a more affordable price. This summarizes the current developments in producing high-performance anion exchange membranes (AEMs) using polymer-based materials and outlines potential avenues for future research in this field. This chapter also examines the durability of AEMFCs and the challenges involved in the development of long-lasting AEMs. Our analysis sheds light on AEM design for hydrogen-to-electricity energy conversion and helps pave the way for the commercialization of AEMFC technology.
