Food packaging is a very important and essential part to store the food for longer period and deliver the food product to the end user without spoilage. A good packaging protects the food from outer environmental contaminations like moister, dust, microbes and pollutants, and chemical and physical damages. Nowadays, a very advanced technology has been used to improve the quality of packaging that is nanotechnology. Nanotechnology-based packaging is a smart and active packaging technique in which nanosized packaging materials are used that contains nanosensor to detect the biological and chemical contaminations at very low level, antimicrobial properties, and high environmental barriers protection. These properties of nanomaterials improve the quality of packaging in terms of enhancing the shelf life of food and longer storage without the spoilage of food.
