A resin bound with Cu(salen), containing 135% Cu (w/w), was prepared by quaternarization of substituted Cu(salen) with tertiary amine group on macroreticular weakly basic styrene type of anionexchange resin (D301).The performance of air oxidation of benzoin catalyzed by the resin was investigated with the method of orthogonal design.Thus,005 mol benzoin was oxidized by air to give 914% yield of benzil at 40 ℃ in 80 mL DMF containing 30 g KOH and 60 g resin after 3 h reaction. This catalyst has the merits of convenient preparation, simple catalytic process ,easy regeneration and repeatable usage.
