Drought stress is the most serious stress influencing crop growth and yield. Drought tolerance is controlled by quantitative trait loci (QTL),with complicated QTL×QTL interaction and QTL ×environment interaction. Location and further analysis of QTL is one or priorities in research on drought tolerance in crops. This paper reviews physiological features of drought tolerance,framework and new methods of QTL analysis,characterization and identification of phenotypes related to drought tolerance,and interactions existing in the analysis of drought tolerance,aiming at providing new thought for researches on QTL analysis and further marker-assisted selection of drought tolerance.
