Conclusions resulting from this study include:a .Studies of streaming potential s in typical geological materials should be concentr ated in real geological environments .b .Fluid electrical r esistivi t y as influenced by dissolved ion conten t is mo r e c r itical to streaming potential measurements than temperature influences and should be measur ed dir ectly .c .Contr ary to the r esults of past studies of s tr eaming potentials , it was found that metallic electr odes performed more satisf ac t orily than did nonpolarizable po r ous pot e l ec trodes .d .A relationship was observed between the flow rate of the water thr ough the porous media and the electr i cal s ur face potential of the solid portion of the media .This r elationship may provide a useful appl ication of str eaming potential surveys after further development .e.The presence of ap pr eciabl e amoun t s of clay in or nea r the water flow pat h through porous media degrades electr okinetic potential magnitudes and hinder s str eaming potential measurements .
