Abstract In order to develop thermoelectric oxides, ZnSb 2 O 6 with a high figure of merit and high reliability, Zn 1– x M x Sb 2 O 6 (M = Al, In) ceramics have been prepared by using a solid phase reaction method. The phase identification during synthesis was investigated by using X‐ray diffraction measurement. The thermoelectric properties such as the Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity in the region from a room temperature to about 900 K were evaluated after heating for 2 h at 1073 K in air. The power factor of Zn 0.95 Al 0.05 Sb 2 O 6 was the highest among all samples at x = 0 to 0.1 over a wide range of temperature. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
