An experimental study was carried out to find the characteristics of mass flow rate and the level of noise caused by refrigerant-22 flow through a short tube orifice. Effects of upstream subcooling, upstream pressure, tube diameter and inlet chamfering were investigated in a two-phase refrigerant flow loop. General characteristics of mass flow in short tube orifices are similar to the previous investigations. It is found that the inlet chamfering increases mass flow rate considerably and decreases flow noise. The measured noise level indicates that there is no dependency of mass flow rate to the noise intensity.
