New methods of modifying the properties of cellulose

Abstract The chief scientific trends worked out in the laboratory of the author concerning the problems of modifying cellulose have been considered. Special attention is given the following: ( 1 ) synthesis of new cellulose ethers and esters, ( 2 ) the introduction of new functional groups into the cellulose macromolecules, and ( 3 ) the synthesis of graft copolymers of cellulose.
