Zeolite membranes are usually synthesizedfrom a gel or clear solution on a porous aluminaor stainless-steel support [1,2]. Synthesis isusually performed at temperatures between 100and 200°C at autogeneous pressure. In order toobtain a continuous zeolite layer frequentlythick films are produced and sometimes multiplesynthesis steps are required [3]. Seeding the sup-port surface has often been applied to promotethe formation of zeolite layer and to improve themembrane quality. In this study, the effect ofamount of seed on the morphology and qualityof MFI (ZSM-5 and silic alite-1) membranes wasinvestigated.
