Effect of edaravone on cell apoptosis and expression of NF-κB in intracerebral hemorrhage rat

[Objective] To study effect of edaravone on cell apoptosis and expression of NF-κB following intracerebral hemorrhage in rats and explore the mechanism of edaravone on cell apoptosis.[Methods] 36 SD rats were divided into edaravone treating group,ICH group and sham operation group.Intracerebral hemorrhage in rats were induced with injecting autologous blood into the left caudate.The contents of MDA in perihematoma were detected with spectrophotometry.Apoptotic was detected by TUNEL method.Expression of NF-κB was detected by immunohistochemistry method.[Results] Compared with sham operation group,the content of MDA,the apoptotic cells and the expression of NF-κB protein were increased significantly in ICH group;While compared with ICH group,levels of above marker were decreased obviously.[Conclusion] Edaravone can inhibit brain cell apoptosis.It maybe via alleviate oxidative stress and decrease expression of NF-κB.
