Polyethylene glycol(PEG)and some additives were used as a binder for warm compaction of water atomized iron and steel powders.Apparent density and fluidity of the pure and alloyed iron powders with binder were measured,and green density of powder compacted parts compacted at different pressure and temperature was measured.It was shown that the properties of raw iron powders,warn compaction pressure and temperature have obvious influence on the green density of the parts.By adding 0.4 wt.% binder,green density of pure and alloyed iron parts,compacted at 600 MPa and 75℃ was 7.29 g/cm3 and 7.20 g/cm3 respectively.It was found that traditional powder compaction theory can also be used to describe the relation between green density and warm compaction pressure.
